There are two licenses in Wisconsin for assisted living: RCAC Residential Care Apartment Complex and CBRF Community Based Residential Facility. Both are licensed and governed by the State of Wisconsin. The RCAC license is assisted living for tenants who are very independent. RCAC s are typically apartment-style. Prairie Ridge offers exceptionally large 1-bedroom apartments with 24-hour care staff. Medication administration, minimal assistance with showering, dressing, and grooming are examples of the type of care that is available in this independent RCAC setting. State regulations however limit the amount of care that can be provided in an RCAC. The CBRF setting is more needs driven. Prairie Ridge offers all private oversized suites with large handicapped-accessible private baths. The roll-in shower is double-sized and has built in benches. Medication management, complete assistance with showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, and transferring assistance is also available. There are no limitations to the amount of care that can be provided under this license. What types of assisted living does Prairie Ridge offer and where? Prairie Ridge offers both levels of assisted living in Waupun and CBRF apartments in Beaver Dam. In Waupun, both RCAC & CBRF licenses are under one roof and are located at 819 Wilcox St. In Beaver Dam, we have CBRF apartments at 212 E. Industrial Dr in Beaver Dam. Does Prairie Ridge still have the Memory Care unit? No, in February, we made the decision to no longer specialize in advanced Dementia & Alzheimer’s Care. We are focusing on our specialty – traditional CBRF care – and have made many improvements and upgrades to this unit including staffing changes. Nicki TerBeest who was RCAC manager has been promoted to CBRF manager. Sherry Herringa who had been RCAC Lead & Care Coordinator was promoted to manager of the RCAC. There is a high demand for the CBRF level of assisted living in Waupun. And as a bonus, our RCAC residents can benefit when or if they have a need for this higher type of care in the CBRF at any time in the future. What are the methods of payment for assisted living? There are many ways to pay: Private Pay, Long-Term Care Insurance, Veteran’s Benefits, Prairie Ridge also has a contract with Care Wisconsin which is a Family Care assistance program that pays for assisted living. If assistance is needed to pay for assisted living – call the Dodge County Aging & Disability Resource Center at 920-386-3580. Are there any special move-in promotions at Prairie Ridge? Prairie Ridge CBRF in Waupun is offering a 32inch LCD television to all new residents. Please ask about a special short-term respite rate. Are there any openings currently? Yes, we do have an opening at our Waupun CBRF. Wait List reservations are being accepted for the Waupun RCAC & Beaver Dam CBRF. Fall & Winter is fast approaching! What events do you have coming up at Prairie Ridge in Waupun? Our monthly pancake breakfast is the 2^nd Wed of each month. Open enrollment starts the middle of October – so stop by for an early preview! This breakfast is a free seniors’ breakfast and space is limited so call Jill at 210- 4039 to make your reservation!
